⚠️ If you are not yet on the updated version of the GDPR page, we invite you to click the message at the top of the page to bring yourself into compliance with the new legislation and security features offered by the platform.
Privacy Policy
In this view, you must first add a privacy policy URL. This is essentially a link to the page on your website where your visitors can read everything about the retention, processing, disclosure and deletion of their data. This link is legally required when creating a cookie banner.
Configure purposes
The notion of purpose is essential under the GDPR. It is the reason(s) explaining why you need to process your visitors' data. The IAB TCF (Interactive Advertising Bureau Transparency & Consent Framework) has defined 10 common purposes that correspond to most event use cases. Storing and/or accessing information on a device (scanning a QR code at the entrance) is a good example of a purpose.
Sometimes you may need to add one or more custom purposes: simply click the + Create a new purpose button, add a name and an appropriate description and your new purpose will be created.
Configure your partners
Partners are another key term in the GDPR context. They are the solutions that will process visitors' data. Here are the three existing ways to add a new partner:
From our partners list We have 3 native partners that you can easily add: Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel. When you add one, select the purposes linked to the partner. You can select the default purposes defined by the IAB TCF, as well as any purposes you have created.
From the IAB TCF list The IAB TCF does not allow you to modify purposes. Each partner on this list has declared its purposes and these are fixed. The same applies to these partners' privacy policies. All we ask for is the integration script provided by the partner.
By manually creating a new partner When creating a new partner, you must provide all the information from scratch; feel free to contact your partner's support team to obtain all the GDPR information necessary to create the partner without missing a purpose.
UTM and Data Tracking
Eventmaker is also one of the partners of your website! We have also defined purposes; there are 4:
Eventmaker Identification
Eventmaker may use cookies to identify you in order to allow you to access your personal account and certain actions only available to logged-in visitors.
Language preferences
Eventmaker may use cookies to remember your preference and display the website in your default language.
Scoring and engagement
This tracking allows the event organizer to know your engagement and your interests related to the event. These data may be used by the organizer to analyse the interests of their audience and possibly offer personalized recommendations.
URL tracking
Used to identify how you landed on the website. This information is only stored if you register for the event.
All these purposes are the reason why Eventmaker uses cookies on your website. Depending on the event configuration, we can determine which purposes must be disclosed to the visitor.
Eventmaker Identification will be present on all websites.
Language preferences only on events where translations are enabled.
Scoring and engagement only on events where scoring is enabled.
⚠️ Unlike other partners, Eventmaker's purposes are mandatory and cannot be disabled!
Displaying the cookie banner
By default, your banner will appear at the bottom of your website, like most banners shown to visitors on the Internet. This also means that a person can browse your website without ever accepting or refusing it.
However, if cookies are really important to you, we recommend switching to a pop-up display so that each visitor makes a decision before continuing their journey on your website.
